Poker Profiles: Lee Watkinson
Of all the no-name players that arrived for the 2007 World Series of Poker, Lee Watkinson's is probably one of the few that actually rings a bell. That bell is due to a previous year's amazing finish at the Pot Limit Omaha World Championship, where he emerged with no less than a bracelet and $655,746 cash prize. Prior to that, Lee also made successful attempts at greatness in the previous years. His first bog win happened in 2004 when he finished at second place at the $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha event at WSOP. That same year, he cashed in at the $10,000 No Limit Hold'em Main Event. His performances for this year garnered Lee a Card Player Magazine Player of the Year recognition.
Lee made a back-to-back win at the World Poker Tour's season three. In both cases, he finished second placer, one was next to Doyle Brunson and the other was next to Eli Elezra. At the 2005 WSOP, he also made back-to-back money finishes at the main event. The first was for stealing the 45th spot from 5,619 competitors and the other was for finishing 3rd at a circuit event.
Each year, Lee goes closer to the championship title and it would not be a surprise if you find him crowned with a WSOP title of his own sooner than later. In fact, in the 2007 WSOP tourney, he finished 8th place at the Main Event. He also made final table appearances at two important tournaments, the WPT Borgata Winter Open and the WSOP Circuit Main Event.
Le loves playing Poker online. While it is not too far from the real thing, it offers the most convenience. In fact, it was through FullTiltPoker, com that he earned an entry to the 2007 WSOP Main Event. Still, he comes out every once in a while to play in the flesh. The excitement on the floor when the game is heating up remains unequalled.
On the flip side, Lee is also busy making good business at the stock market and making a difference in the lives of animals. He and his fiancée raise funds for animal rights causes. They have already rescued chimpanzees that were previously living in captivity. With a few more years, Lee hopes to build his own animal sanctuary where he can house all the animals he has rescued.
Lee is from Cheney, Washington. He was born on October 18, 1966. He is an Economics graduate and is a certified mover in the business industry. He plays Poker and the stock market during his spare time.
