The $1,500 No-Limit Holdem Tournament: Event 36 of the 39th Annual WSOP in 2008

From June 19 to 21, 2008, 2,447 outstanding poker players competed in the $1,500 No-Limit Holdem poker tournament, which was scheduled as the 36th event of the 39th Annual World Series of Poker that was held at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. With a bevy of talented poker individuals present, the total prize pool for this particular event alone ballooned to a stunning $3,340,155. All throughout the competition, a total 198 payouts were made to the different players competing for a prestigious WSOP championship title.

The finals of the $1,500 No-Limit Holdem event for the 39th Annual World Series of Poker took place at the last day of the competition, which pitted nine of the best competitors and game strategists in the game of poker. The final table was comprised of outstanding individuals such as Owen Crowe, Doug Middleton, and Cody Slaubaugh. In the meantime, Rick Solis, Justin Wald, and Danny Wong were among the surprise players in this prestigious poker tournament. On the other hand, John Shipley, Aaron Kanter, and Jesper Hougaard completed the cast of the final table roster for the $1,500 No-Limit Holdem tourney under the 39th Annual World Series of Poker.

From the opening rounds of the $1,500 No-Limit Holdem finals for the 39th Annual World Series of Poker, the action was very intense as each of the remaining finalists stayed tough against each other. However, some crucial decisions and untimely mistakes eventually led to the elimination of Shipley for ninth place, which came with a very nice prize of $56,782. After a few more rounds, Crowe also got himself out of the competition for eighth place as well as a decent prize of $81,833. The opening rounds ended with the elimination of Solis, which grabbed the seventh spot and the $106,884 prize that went with it.

At the middle phase of the $1,500 No-Limit Holdem finals for the 39th Annual World Series of Poker, things got more exciting as the remaining survivors inched closer to that elusive WSOP championship bracelet. Soon enough, Wald was ousted from the competition after some costly errors helped him land at the sixth place for a prize of $140,286. In the succeeding rounds, it was Middleton's turn to be ousted from the poker tournament, securing the fifth spot for a hefty pay of $177,028. Wong closed out the middle rounds after landing at the fourth place, which also came with a very nice prize valued at $217,110.

The closing rounds of the $1,500 No-Limit Holdem finals for the 39th Annual World Series of Poker became a showdown amongst equally talented competitors like Slaubaugh, Hougaard, and Kanter. The results were really astonishing as Hougaard claimed the top spot, Slaubaugh grabbed the second place, while Kanter finished third overall for another exciting finish for the WSOP franchise. With this victory, Hougaard walked away with his first ever WSOP championship bracelet and the grand pot valued at $610,304, while Slaubaugh went home with $389,128 and Kanter with $258,862.
